South East Asia and Korea Peacekeeping Veterans Assoc,
The SEAK’s Assoc. have had a dynamic year in 2015. Several long term Committee members decided that it was time to “hang up the spurs” resulting in several newer members stepping up to the plate. I take this opportunity to thank those previous committee members for their efforts and work.
Primarily, being a social welfare association, the SEAK’s took the direction of an active, participative approach to our fellowship gatherings. In 2015 we organised 2 river cruises, a whale watch tour and a couple of barefoot bowls game days. All activities were well supported by the members and the feedback was extremely positive. We also invited other Memorial Club based associations to join us in these, which was taken up by them.
The Ceremonial Events (Kapyong Day & Long Tan / VV Day) that SEAK’s organise at the Club were well attended and supported by other associations within the community, you may have noticed people in traditional Korean dress on Kapyong Day 2015. I thank the Korean Society and the RAR Association for their contribution and support.
In August 25/49 RQR, invited our monthly meeting be hosted at their Depot. This was well attended and gave our members a chance to reminisce and to see the modern ADF first hand. I thank the service personnel of 25/49 RQR for their support.
Our weekly (Saturday) raffles have gone strength to strength during the year, with our current members’ attendance averaging 28. Additionally attendance at our Monthly Meetings has increased to an average of 30 members. I thank the Memorial Club for their ongoing support in these activities, particularly Craig Jordon, Gary Beachly & Paul Burton.
Yours Sincerely,
Dave Harper
President
